"USAID invests in girls to help break the cycle of poverty"

Last December, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution to declare October 11th as the International Day of the Girl.  The day was established to recognize girls' rights and the unique challenges girls face around the world.  The action follows a multi-year campaign by activists in Canada and the United States.

USAID is eager to commemorate the first-ever International Day of the Girl by highlighting and celebrating equal treatment and opportunities for girls around the world.
